How extra pay is calculated

Start with your daily and hourly rates

For this fixed monthly-pay scope, divide monthly salary by 26, then divide by agreed normal hours per day. Normal-day hours beyond that agreement earn at least 1.5 times the hourly rate. Rest-day work uses half-day and full-day bands; only excess hours use the 2-times hourly rate. Confirm the day from the roster first.

Example: RM2,600 monthly salary and an 8-hour day

The ordinary daily rate is RM100 and hourly rate RM12.50. Working 4 hours on a designated rest day adds RM50; 8 hours adds RM100; 10 hours adds RM150. On a confirmed paid public holiday, 10 hours adds RM275. The RM100 ordinary holiday pay is already in salary, so RM375 is the day-equivalent total, not extra pay.

When this estimate does not apply

This version does not assess Sabah/Sarawak rules, wages above RM4,000, occupational exceptions, variable wages, shifts, disputed holiday entitlement or more favourable contracts. Work after a 10-hour span on a normal day needs time-record analysis. An unsupported case is not a finding of no entitlement; refer it to payroll or JTKSM.
