How to estimate the employer cost of a monthly salary

Add employer contributions to wages

Enter the monthly wage per employee, headcount, worker type and age band. Monthly employer cost = total wages + employer EPF + employer SOCSO + employer EIS. The calculator applies the same wage and profile to every employee entered. Annual cost is that monthly estimate multiplied by 12; the remittance breakdown also shows employee contributions withheld.

Worked example: one employee earning RM1,700

For one Malaysian/PR employee below 60, the 31 August 2026 payroll snapshot gives RM221 employer EPF, RM28.85 employer SOCSO and RM3.30 employer EIS. These add RM253.15 to a RM1,700 wage, producing RM1,953.15 monthly employer cost or RM23,437.80 for 12 identical months.

Separate employer expense from employee deductions

Employee contributions withheld are part of the stated gross wage, so do not add them again to employer cost. The estimate excludes PCB remittance, HRDF or other levies, benefits, recruitment and other non-entered costs. It does not separately calculate overtime, bonuses or allowances. Run different wage or worker groups separately when a team has mixed profiles.
