How EPF employee and employer contributions are calculated

Match the wage to the relevant contribution schedule

Enter the monthly wage used for EPF, employee status and age band. Statutory mode selects the matching schedule treatment and reports the employee share, employer share, total contribution and modeled account allocation. Where wage bands apply, the scheduled ringgit amount can differ from multiplying the exact wage by a headline percentage.

Worked example: a RM3,250 monthly wage

For a Malaysian employee below 60 using statutory mode, the 5 March 2026 snapshot places RM3,250 in the RM3,240.01–RM3,260 wage band. The employee contribution is RM359 and the employer contribution is RM424, for RM783 combined. The employee deduction is RM359; the employer share is additional.

Custom mode changes the employee share

A custom percentage overrides the employee contribution only; the employer contribution retains the selected statutory treatment. Account allocations are estimates based on the model’s age band and snapshot, not a forecast of dividends or future balances. Confirm the applicable wage definition, membership status and schedule with KWSP for payroll use.
