Compound Interest Calculator
Project compound growth from a starting balance, annual interest rate, regular monthly deposits, and time horizon.
How monthly compound interest is calculated
Starting balance plus monthly deposits
Let P be the starting balance, D the monthly deposit, r the nominal annual rate ÷ 1,200, and n the number of months. With deposits at each month-end, future value = P × (1 + r)^n + D × ((1 + r)^n − 1) ÷ r. At 0% interest, it is simply P + D × n.
Worked example: a one-year scenario
Starting with RM1,000, adding RM100 at each month-end and using an illustrative 6% annual rate gives RM2,295.23 after 12 months. Total contributions are RM2,200, so the modeled interest is RM95.23. The monthly rate in this example is 0.5%.
Read this as a projection
The calculation holds the rate and monthly deposit constant and compounds monthly. It excludes fees, taxes, inflation and withdrawals. The entered rate is a scenario assumption, not a promised return or a current product rate; actual product crediting methods can differ.
